With breathtaking mountain scenery, great city and small town locations, remarkable diversity in its environment, a heritage of filmmaking since the 1920s and a strong crew base, Western North Carolina is incredibly film friendly.

Operated by AdvantageWest, the Western North Carolina Film Commission assists filmmakers with scouting and securing locations, and acts as a liaison for services such as road closures, permits, and use of public property. The Commission also provides logistical information regarding crew, talent, equipment, stage and support services. We work closely with city and county administrators, the local film community, the North Carolina Film Office, residents and business interests to facilitate hundreds of projects, including feature films, documentaries, commercials, television films and series, music videos and reality television.

A complete digital location library system powered by Reel-Scout™ allows us to customize a digital location package specific to your project needs.

Please contact us as early as you can in your pre-production so we can ensure that your production runs as smoothly as possible.

Asheville, NC takes part in the 48-Hour Film Project each year.
