Please read each announcement carefully because registration for each workshop is different and is NOT handled by Blue Ridge Food Ventures.

I.  Food Marketing in the Real World--A Training and Networking Opportunity for Food Entrepreneurs 

Sponsored by: The Division of Marketing of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services 
 
What: Food entrepreneurs should not miss this class. If you are already a small food producer or interested in becoming one, you should attend this class to gain the following: learn new opportunities to expand your business, hear from successful food professionals, learn how to reach new markets, and network with other food entrepreneurs.

II.  "Pickle
School" or Acidified Foods Processing and Packaging

Sponsored by: North Carolina Sate University, Department of Food, Bioprocessing and  Nutrition Sciences
 
What:This is the class, required by the FDA, for food manufacturers making a "pickled" or acidified food product. This is an important class to take, even if you are not sure if your product is acidified, or naturally acid. It covers food safety, the regulatory process and necessary record-keeping to keep your products safe.
 
Date: Feb 10-11-12, 2010
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 pm

III.   Food Industry: Recipe for Success--Price Your Product Right
 
What: Recipe for Success --This is a great food industry seminar that will focus on pricing your food product effectively. Learn the ingredients that go into knowing what price to charge for your Specialty Food Product. (3 hrs)

IV.  Juice HACCP Course
 
What: North Carolina State University, Virginia Tech and Blue Ridge Food Ventures will conduct a short course in HACCP principles primarily for juice processors. Juice HACCP regulation apply to juice products in both interstate and intrastate commerce. Juice processors are required to evaluate their manufacturing process to determine whether there are any microbiological, chemical, or physical hazards that could contaminate their products.
 
Date: Jan 20-22, 2010
Time: 1-5:00 pm Jan 20; 8:00-am-5:00 pm Jan 21 and 22, 2010.
Location: Haynes Conference Center,  Enka Campus, A-B Tech, Asheville
Cost: $300 fee includes course material, two meals and breaks.

V.  Developing a New Food Business

Sponsored by
NCSU Cooperative Extension and conducted by the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics

 
What: During this intensive two-day workshop you’ll be able to explore how to start a new food business by speaking with successful producers and university personnel. The workshop will focus on food businesses that process, package, and sell a variety of food products. Workshop participants will receive a reference notebook and other materials that will help you develop your business. In –class exercises will make the program even more meaningful.
 
Dates: March 30-31, 2010
Location: Haynes Building, A-B Tech, Enka Campus
Cost: $95 per person
