The NC Mountains region is gaining more and more recognition as a leader in green business and communities. The driving force behind this is part people and part place.
As a place, Western North Carolina is blessed with a wealth of natural resources, one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world, and exceptional health, wellness, and outdoor recreation amenities that lead to an excellent quality of life.
As a people, there is an emerging creative class designing a wave of green innovations and a tradition of stewardship of natural resources that leads to green lifestyles and many “early adopters” of new green products and services.
Additionally, across the state of North Carolina, there is a commitment to green businesses evident in some of the most favorable incentives and resource programs in the county.
The AdvantageGreen program of AdvantageWest seeks to leverage these regional strengths to promote green economic opportunities and to support long term green job creation and retention throughout western North Carolina.

Call for Applications
AdvantageWest is pleased to announce that the 2010-11 AdvantageGreen Energy Internships Program is now open for applications.
Under this program, nine internships and three fellowships are available to talented recent graduates (within last three years) of North Carolina colleges and universities, as well as state residents that graduated from a similar institution outside of North Carolina in the last three years.
These positions are 12-month commitments to start in October 2010 and have a competitive stipend. We hope these positions will help create pathways to meaningful employment in clean energy companies for students as well as help grow Western North Carolina’s clean energy economy. The AdvantageGreen Energy Internships Program has been made possible through the support of the North Carolina State Energy Office.
