SELEE Corporation Announces Job Creation & Investment Expansion
Hendersonville, NC – On Thursday, August 28, 2008 SELEE Corporation and Henderson County proudly announced a job creation and investment expansion at SELEE’s facility in Hendersonville. The announcement comes just a few weeks after a Henderson County Board of Commissioners public hearing on incentives held on August 12, 2008. At that meeting, the Board of Commissioners expressed their support of the proposed expansion project and unanimously extended economic development assistance to encourage the project to take place in Henderson County.

Mark Morse, President of SELEE Corporation, attributes the expansion and new jobs to a new product opportunity within the company. Morse stated that SELEE hired two individuals to research and examine the possibility of transitioning research into a viable product, including landing business contracts for production. “Once the business was secured, it was just a matter of making a decision about which facility would manufacture the new product, and that’s where Henderson County came in,” stated Morse

The project includes a $3,000,000 investment through early 2010, primarily in machinery and equipment capitalization. In addition to the two jobs already created, SELEE will create 23 additional jobs. The jobs created will include engineers with approximate wages of $80,000/year ($109,000 with benefits) and production employees at $32,200/year ($46,100 with benefits). Average wages and benefits are expected to exceed $56,000/year.

Bill Moyer, Chairman of the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, thought that the project characterized continued success in economic development efforts in Henderson County. He said, “The positions created at SELEE will provide excellent opportunities for our transitioning workforce to seek employment in advanced manufacturing. We are happy to play a role in encouraging this expansion.”

Adam Shealy, Chair of the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development stated, “We are very fortunate that SELEE Corporation chose to continue their growth and investment in Henderson County. Given the increasing competition in attracting advanced manufacturing jobs in a global market, this is a significant win for Henderson County and the region.” Morse, Moyer & Shealy all agreed that they hope this growth trend continues in Henderson County.

The Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, Inc. is a 501(c)(6) organization that works to: retain and attract quality jobs; solicit new business compatible with the assets and values of Henderson County; promote Henderson County’s business image; assist expansion of existing companies; and enhance Henderson County’s overall quality of life.
