Date Posted: 9/26/2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The right financing enables a business to grow to its full potential but how do you choose the strategy for your particular venture? That’s the question to be addressed at a presentation called “Creating a Financing Strategy for Your Business” on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 5:30 p.m., at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, 31 Woodfin St., in downtown Asheville. The event is presented by Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council (BREC) and co-sponsored by the Renaissance.
Finance and business consultant Logan Metcalfe will discuss how to customize a financing strategy to match your business based on:
- Stage of the business’s development
- The company’s growth potential
- Amount of financing needed
- Purpose for which financing is needed
- Method and timing for paying back financing
- Reputation/finances of you and your team
The presentation will outline the main types and sources of financing with discussion focusing on equity, convertible debt, bank debt and grants. Cost to attend is $25, which includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Register online at www.brecnc.com or contact Pam Lewis for more information at plewis@awnc.org.
Metcalfe is founder of Arena Consulting LLC, in Greenville, S.C., providing chief financial officer and business consulting services to companies experiencing or anticipating rapid growth. The former CFO and chief operating officer of Immaculate Baking Co., a leading brand of all-natural refrigerated cookie dough, originally founded and located in Henderson County, Metcalfe helped craft the company’s business plan, establish key financial and operational processes, and raise more than $7.6 million in angel and venture capital investment.
Prior to Immaculate Baking, Metcalfe was a senior management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton in Sydney and New York, where he consulted for several Fortune 100 companies and helped establish an initiative to accelerate the development of high impact technology start-ups. A graduate of the University of Auckland with degrees in Business and Arts, with an MBA from Harvard Business School, Metcalfe also serves as treasurer for YouthBASE, a Greenville-based nonprofit that helps youngsters overcome serious behavioral, academic, social and emotional difficulties.

In an effort to respond to the diverse economic development needs of North Carolina, then State Representative Martin Nesbitt introduced legislation creating the regional economic development partnerships. It was this extraordinary insight that allowed AdvantageWest to become one of the most innovative and nimble economic development programs in the state.
