Kudos add up for state, region

North Carolina and the AdvantageWest region continue to be recognized on a number of “best of” and other lists. Here’s a sample:
• North Carolina No. 1 for business climate: Our state is tops again, for the eighth time in nine years, in Site Selection Magazine’s annual business climate rankings. Find out why in the November 2009 edition -- plus, read the sidebar "Powerful Package," which mentions high tech leader Google, located in the AdvantageWest region. Find out more.
• North Carolina is No. 1 state in which to locate a data center: A report by Tishman Technologies Corp. ranks North Carolina the best state in the U.S. to build a data center, such as the Google facility in Caldwell County. NC also ranked high for low energy cost, fiber optics and favorable labor. Find out more.
• North Carolina tops list for best film incentives: In a Variety Magazine online poll of film industry insiders, North Carolina ranked high for the category of “Best Incentives.” The state just increased its tax credit incentive from 15 to 25 percent against qualifying expenses that come from within North Carolina. • Henderson Co. Partnership for Economic Development earns national award of excellence: Expansion Solutions Magazine has named HCPED a “Top Five” organization in the category of excellence in the automotive sector. These annual awards recognize economic develop organizations that have shown exceptional progress and potential in developing key industry sectors. Find out more.
• Wilkes woman wins Governor’s Award for Excellence in Workforce Development: Congratulations to Teresa Mejia-Santos of North Wilkesboro, who was one of four individuals across the state to be recognized for outstanding accomplishments and contributions in helping North Carolina achieve its workforce development goals.
