MARC members receive grants, add more than 100 jobs

The Marketing Association for Rehabilitation Centers is an organization that supports 14 nonprofit Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRPs) in a 21-county region of Western North Carolina. About half of the employees at these facilities have some type of physical and/or mental disability.
Several MARC members have recently won grants that will enable these manufacturers to expand and add jobs:
• Industrial Opportunities Inc. (Cherokee Co.): Received a $480,000 NC Rural Economic Development grant for an expansion that will create 75 new jobs for manufacturing a new military product. Find out more.
• Haywood Vocational Opportunities (Haywood Co.): Received a $240,000 NC Rural Economic Development grant through The Town of Waynesville for a $2 million expansion expected to create 24 new jobs. Find out more.
• Watauga Opportunities (Watauga Co.): Received a $107,500 Golden LEAF grant to help fund an expansion to help meet increased demand for medical supplies, which are manufactured at the site. The expansion will create 10 new, full-time jobs with benefits. Find out more.
