Jan. 26 forum focuses on economic outlook and opportunities for growth
Date Posted: 1/9/2010
Entrepreneurs are invited to the next Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council forum, Jan. 26, featuring a look at the economic environment in 2010 and ways to capitalize on the opportunities it will bring. Internationally respected economist Dr. Ron Johnson, Dean of the WCU College of Business, and national marketing expert David Kemper, president of KemperStrategy Inc., will lead a lively and engaging discussion that will include what entrepreneurs can do to “surf among the sharks.” (A hint: it's a bad time to wipe out.)
The BREC forum, co-sponsored by the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, will take place 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Renaissance, 31 Woodfin St., in downtown Asheville. Cost is $20, which includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

In an effort to respond to the diverse economic development needs of North Carolina, then State Representative Martin Nesbitt introduced legislation creating the regional economic development partnerships. It was this extraordinary insight that allowed AdvantageWest to become one of the most innovative and nimble economic development programs in the state.
