Dacentec celebrates new US headquarters in Lenoir
Dacentec Inc., in partnership with the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission, hosted a grand opening of the company’s Cloud Datacenter in downtown Lenoir with a ceremony on July 29.
The company is completing renovations to a 26,000 square-foot building that formerly housed Sportswear Express. The new center is expected to serve as the company’s United States headquarters for planned data centers across the country and will provide hosting and IP network services. The nearness of the Google data centers in Caldwell County helped draw the company to this area.
With the help of the city of Lenoir, the company received a $60,000 grant from the North Carolina Rural Economic Center to assist in renovations. Dacentec has also made a multi-million dollar investment to renovate the building.
The company will hire five employees for the new datacenter: a night security person, a facilities engineer, an administrative position, a data center technician and a data center engineer. Salaries will range from $35,000 to $55,000 a year.

In an effort to respond to the diverse economic development needs of North Carolina, then State Representative Martin Nesbitt introduced legislation creating the regional economic development partnerships. It was this extraordinary insight that allowed AdvantageWest to become one of the most innovative and nimble economic development programs in the state.
