UNCA Graduate Recognized at Five State Summit

Asheville, NC- AdvantageWest Economic Development Group partnered with four other southern state organizations for the 4th annual Five State Summit held at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. The focus of this year’s event was on entrepreneurship and innovation. The all-day event was held at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. AdvantageWest Board Member, Attorney Sam Neill presented UNCA Graduate David McConville, with the inaugural High Cotton Award for community leadership.
The summit provided opportunities for professional networking and education for community leaders including economic developers, elected officials, educators, service providers and entrepreneurs to learn how to make entrepreneurial development and innovation a tool for the future of the regional economy. Highlights of the event included a keynote speech by Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Co-Chair Anne Pope, panel discussions by University Chancellors, and presentations by area entrepreneurs.
