Cherokee Manufacturing Announces Move to WNC

Date Posted: 12/5/2005

Cherokee Manufacturing executives announced they will open a wire basket and wreath ring manufacturing facility in Morganton, N.C., creating 31 new jobs. The St. Paul, Minn.,-based firm chose North Carolina over Tennessee for its new facility for several reasons, according to company Chairman & CEO John Gunderman. "Dale Carroll of AdvantageWest was instrumental in selling us on the merits of North Carolina," Gunderman said. "Dale walked us through the steps necessary to pursue financial assistance and introduced us to Cindy Messer the Western Regional Director for The NC Dept. of Commerce and Wayne Harris the Director of The Burke Partnership for Economic Development. Their enthusiasm for North Carolina was contagious and swayed us from manufacturing in a neighboring state."

Founded in 1940 and family owned and operated, Cherokee manufacturing makes a variety of landscape and horticultural products including wire baskets, wreath rings, planting containers and landscape fabrics.
